Quilts are in principle the logical UL evolution of sleeping bags. A quilt is a kind of blanket with a foot box. By saving the material on the back, which would be compressed by your body weight anyway and therefore cannot insulate, the same insulation as a sleeping bag is possible at a lower weight.
This quilt is something special, because it can not only be used as a quilt at night, but also worn as an insulating poncho during the day.
The Cumulus Quilt 450 is the only winter model in the quilt range. This quilt offers insulation down to -7°C at a weight of just 685g.
For me too, this weekend it was time to get out into nature once again.
A wise man once said: whoever goes out into nature alone gets to know himself.
The main task of a groundsheet is to protect you and your sleeping bags/quilts from moisture. For all variants, the rule is: the higher the water column, the denser the material.
The bowline is a useful knot for creating a loop. This loop does not tighten even under load. This way, for example, a strap can be lengthened.
The topsail sheet bend is a very useful knot. This knot forms a sliding loop that does not tighten under load. Thus, this knot is an ideal replacement for line locks and enables quick adjustment of tarp or tent cords.
The Klymit Static V Insulated is a relatively inexpensive air pad that impresses with a good price/performance ratio and winter suitability.
To isolate yourself as well as possible from ground cold (referred to as conduction in English literature), an insulation layer between the body and the ground is needed.
