To isolate yourself as well as possible from ground cold (referred to as conduction in English literature), an insulation layer between the body and the ground is needed.
The value for the degree of insulation is called R-value. This makes different pads (reasonably) comparable regarding insulation. The rule is: the higher the R-value, the better the pad insulates against the ground temperature.
Below is a graphic giving a rough estimate of which R-value is needed for which ground temperature.
The XLite is Therm-A-Rest's all-round three-season pad, impressing with good insulation at a low weight & packed size.
The XTherm is Therm-A-Rest's winter pad, impressing with great insulation at a low weight & packed size.
The Klymit Static V Insulated is a relatively inexpensive air pad that impresses with a good price/performance ratio and winter suitability.
