Klymit Static V Insulated
The Klymit Static V Insulated is a relatively inexpensive air pad that impresses with a good price/performance ratio and winter suitability.
Having now spent over 100 nights on the Static V, I can say:
Noise - on certain lightly rubberised floors the pad creaks a little. I noticed this both in my Nallo 2 GT tent and on PVC flooring.
The concern that the pad's structure would prevent side sleeping turned out to be unfounded. When sleeping on your side, it is recommended to fill the pad with plenty of air. Blow up the pad in the evening and top it up again after half an hour, once the air inside has cooled down and contracted.
This is a very robust pad; you hardly need to worry about sharp stones or the like.
During my trip through Sweden I overlooked a sharp-edged grill grate when setting up camp and lay on it with the pad.
It only roughened the outermost layer of the pad a little; to this day the pad has no hole.
Rolling it up is quick, and the stuff sack is large enough to take the pad again.
The pad's structure is divine; sleep a few hours on your back and your back feels like new!
