The Perfect Sleeping Pad

Even after searching for years for the perfect sleeping pad for me, I still haven't found it. While every sleeping pad I tested had strengths, the following weaknesses were hardly acceptable to me:

• Draft
• Too loud
• Too cold
• Too heavy
• Too bulky
• Too fragile
• Too small
• Too big
• Too high
• Too low
• …

After careful consideration I came to the conclusion that I have to combine different models with each other to use their advantages and eliminate their disadvantages.

Securely attaching a quilt to a sleeping pad

Lately I have repeatedly asked myself how best to attach a quilt to a sleeping pad in order to prevent cold drafts.

MYOG power bank

While hiking on the Habichtswaldsteig I thought about what an ideal power bank for me should look like. I came to the conclusion that the perfect power bank for me must have the following features:

• Input current of 2 A
• Output current of 2 A
• Display to read the available battery level
• Pass-through support (simultaneous charging & discharging)
• Most efficient possible converter from 3.7 V battery voltage to 5 V USB voltage
• Low weight

MYOG Groove Stove

The Groove Stove is my most frequently used stove. This alcohol stove is on the one hand very efficient and on the other hand easy to make. A pen, a pair of scissors, and less than five minutes are enough to build this stove.

So, now that some SilNylon fabric in a bright color has arrived, I put the sewing machine back to work for a few new stuff sacks.

Exped Schnozzel modification

Insulated air mattresses have one decisive disadvantage compared to foam mats – inflating them takes relatively long.

One of my most loved features of my previously used Exped DownMat UL7 was the Schnozzel Pumpbag. Because with it, the air mattress was inflated within a few seconds.

MYOG tarp

Since I had been looking for a lightweight, inconspicuous tarp for a long time but had found nothing in the size 3 m × 1.5 m, I decided to sew my own.

Some MYOG projects can be done with materials from local shops, others require materials that are harder to obtain.
