While on a longer hike, you will quickly notice that the food becomes monotonous very quickly. Most main dishes rely on noodles, rice, and couscous. To escape this monotony, it is a good idea to prepare oven vegetables once in a while. Since fresh vegetables are used for this, it is best to prepare this meal right after restocking your provisions.
Oven vegetables impress with their simplicity. Chop all the vegetables into small pieces and put them in the baking pot. Add the spices and oil and mix thoroughly.
Now baking can begin. The oven vegetables need between 60 and 110 minutes, depending on how finely the vegetables were cut and the intensity of the stove. It is recommended to work with high heat until the water in the bottom pot boils and then reduce the flame. This way, just 35ml of alcohol is needed for a baking time of 1 hour 30 minutes.
I am a fan of oven vegetables and am happy to now be able to enjoy them on the trail too!
