Ultralight Hike
For me, it has proven useful not to always start from individual pieces of outdoor gear, but to think and pack in sets. It simplifies my packing because each set serves one purpose. So I pack a few sets into the backpack and can head straight out into nature.
Since I haven’t found any ready-made sets that meet my requirements, the only option was to put them together myself. Here I will introduce my sets.
During a trekking trip, my meals were previously mostly limited to simple freezer-bag dishes. Over time, these dishes became increasingly monotonous to me. That’s why I was often unable to pass a tavern near the trail without stopping in. Eating out often is expensive on the one hand, and on the other hand you’re tied to the kitchen’s opening hours. On this year’s Sweden vacation, therefore, enjoying proper meals takes center stage. An alcohol-based kitchen has many advantages. Among other things, the fuel is easy to obtain all over Europe and can be portioned out to the length of the trip by refilling. That’s why I wanted to try my hand at a gourmet cook set with denatured alcohol.

Skurka already said that there are two fundamentally different approaches to hiking.
In the first variant, the journey is the destination. This hits the core of ultralight trekking very well.
There is also the approach of thinking from camp to camp. This applies to classic trekking on the one hand, and to relaxed trips with several people on the other. On this kind of trip, a lot of time is spent in camp. What could be more natural than cooking extensively?

Over the past years, I have drastically reduced not only my pack weight but also its volume. With this set, I have reached the point in cooking where a smaller pot no longer seems practical to me. The pot with 400ml of volume is ideally suited for freezer-bag cooking

Since gear can break on the trail, I always carry a small repair and emergency kit.
This kit packs down very small and is therefore stowed in the first-aid kit. Despite its size, it consists of various parts, which I will explain below.

First aid is an important topic on the trail, because something can always happen. In the following, I will say a few words about my first-aid kit and its uses. To be clear: this first-aid kit is tailored to my needs and is not universal. Some things that are normally in a first-aid kit are part of my other kits. To be able to reach the kit quickly, it should not be buried too deep in the backpack. I make no claim to completeness for my kit; in case of emergency, I only want to get back to the next civilization with it.

Hard to believe that I of all people am writing about an EDC — what’s the point, anyway?
EDC stands for Every Day Carry, i.e. items that you lug around with you every day.
Over the past years, time and again I’ve been missing essential things in all kinds of situations.
On the trail without fire, walking home through the forest in the dark without a light, etc.
In the future, I want to effectively prevent such planning mistakes with it.
