Over the past years, I have drastically reduced not only my pack weight but also its volume. With this set, I have reached the point in cooking where a smaller pot no longer seems practical to me. The pot with 400ml of volume is ideally suited for freezer-bag cooking
This is the cook set I use most often on the trail. It weighs 95 grams and consists of the following components:
In addition, there is a plastic Berentzen 2cl mini bottle filled with denatured alcohol in the pot. This amount of alcohol is enough to cook 1.5-2 portions of water. The complete cook set, including the alcohol, some Tabasco and a little tea, fits into the pot. The set with its individual components looks like this:
To start the cook set, the aluminium foil is unfolded and placed on the ground. The foil protects the ground from the heat while cooking and at the same time reflects the heat back onto the pot. This makes the alcohol burner work a bit more efficiently, especially at lower temperatures. The can burner goes on top of the foil. Depending on the ambient temperature, the burner must be filled with 1cl - 1.5cl of alcohol for 350ml of water. Once the alcohol burner is filled, the windscreen is assembled and fixed with a staple. In the next step, fill the pot with water.
Then the alcohol in the can stove must be ignited. At lower temperatures, it has proven useful to hold the stove in your hand and warm it from below with the lighter flame. This makes the alcohol easier to ignite.
As soon as the can stove burns with a large flame (preheating takes about 5-10 seconds), you have to place the filled pot on the alcohol burner. After about 5 minutes the water boils and the burner soon goes out.
Now the water can be used.

Update from February 2018:
For almost a year now, I have replaced the MYOG Groove Stove with a Speedster Stove (30ml) in combination with the Ultralight Pot Stand. The time to boil water has increased slightly as a result, but in exchange, no burning alcohol can leak out if the stove tips over. In addition, the simmer ring allows me to regulate the heat.
This cook set is therefore not only suitable for boiling water, but also enables many other dishes at an added weight of not even ten grams.
