Gourmet Cook Set (550ml & 1400ml) with Alcohol Stove
During a trekking trip, my meals were previously mostly limited to simple freezer-bag dishes. Over time, these dishes became increasingly monotonous to me. That’s why I was often unable to pass a tavern near the trail without stopping in. Eating out often is expensive on the one hand, and on the other hand you’re tied to the kitchen’s opening hours. On this year’s Sweden vacation, therefore, enjoying proper meals takes center stage. An alcohol-based kitchen has many advantages. Among other things, the fuel is easy to obtain all over Europe and can be portioned out to the length of the trip by refilling. That’s why I wanted to try my hand at a gourmet cook set with denatured alcohol.
After careful consideration, I came up with the following composition:
With this cook set I get a weight of 489g with the Trangia non-stick pan and 413g without the pan. With this cook set, everything I enjoy at home is possible. Particularly pleasant is that the titanium bowl fits perfectly on the rim of the 1.4L pot. Nothing burns in the non-stick pan, which makes it great for fried eggs and searing meat. When the titanium bowl is placed in the pot, both rims rest on each other, leaving some space between the bowl and the bottom. If this space is filled with a little water so that the bowl doesn’t touch the water, you can steam-bake wonderfully. This way, a multitude of dishes such as cake, lasagne and pizza can be prepared on the cook set.
The first tests at home were a complete success. From now on, the set will accompany me on many luxury trips where a little more weight is acceptable.
