Since my move went almost without a hitch, Bimbi and I could properly enjoy our first free weekend.
Originally we wanted to meet a few dearly beloved goofballs in a parking lot and head to the first trekking site together. But as with the previous tour, this didn't quite work out due to traffic jams.
So Bimbi, one more participant and I hiked from the parking lot towards the trekking site without the others.
Along the way we made a small detour to a beautiful sandstone formation, which, contrary to expectations, didn't reward us with a nice view over the valleys.
A short time later we reached the trekking site during the golden hour. The view from this spot was magnificent and we enjoyed the moment.
Afterwards we prepared the firewood for the evening with heavy gear.
Once enough wood was prepared, we stoked a fire with natural materials, which gave us a proper bed of glowing coals in no time.
Over the next few hours all the tour participants showed up, and we could enjoy the relaxed atmosphere together during the night before we retreated to our sleeping quarters.
Late in the morning we had a hearty breakfast and then set off towards the Kalmit. Here too we had booked the entire trekking site for ourselves.
The steep climb was no problem for the group.
When we reached the top, we were rewarded with a beautiful view.
We dined like royalty in the hut of the Palatinate Forest Association before continuing our hike across the Felsenmeer.
Unfortunately, the trekking site at the Kalmit is very exposed, and with the stormy weather we decided to look for another place for the night, one that wasn't under creaking pines. Luckily we knew of a shelter hut in a wind-protected valley, so we headed there.
So the five of us slept in a small shelter hut and let this evening wind down relaxed as well.
Even though we only hiked a few kilometres during this tour, the great company made it wonderful, and it will stay in my memory for a long time!
