Esbit/Trioxane Stoves
Esbit stoves are mainly used by the German armed forces. In ultralight trekking, there are some who rely on this type of stove.
Personally, however, I don't really like cooking with Esbit; in my opinion, the negative aspects outweigh the advantages.
Pro
- Stove weighs only a few grams
- Stove can easily be built yourself
Con
- Fuel sometimes difficult to obtain abroad
- Fuel smells during combustion
- Energy density of the fuel is very low.
