Couscous with Packet Soup, Quick ’n Dirty

This is one of my favorite meals for the trail. The dish impresses with its versatile flavor and simple preparation.

The ingredient list for this recipe is as follows:

1 Zip-Lock bag
100g Couscous
1 packet instant cup soup
as desired freeze-dried herbs
as desired freeze-dried vegetables
as desired soy mince (Absorbs a lot of flavor, in that case use 2 packets of soup)
Oil For the calories on the trail, as much as possible. Add the oil only during preparation, as it can otherwise go rancid.

Preparation:

Put all ingredients except the oil into the Zip-Lock bag. Seal the Zip-Lock bag and take it on the trip.

Cooking

Pour 300ml-350ml of boiling water and some oil over the bag contents and seal it.

Now knead the meal a little until the powder lumps have dissolved. After letting it steep for 10-15 minutes, the meal is ready to eat.

Recommended Combinations

The following combinations have proven themselves in my experience lately:

  • Erasco tomato-mozzarella cup soup with couscous, some tomato powder, freeze-dried chives, onions and bell pepper.
  • 2x Erasco cheese-leek cup soup with couscous, freeze-dried chives, bell pepper, ground dried chili peppers and soy mince.
